Trying to get some sleep when there’s a dead rat in your house isn’t easy. Every time you take a breath, you almost feel like throwing up because that smell is so gross. And then, there are all of those nasty flies and maggots that come with it. No wonder that these homeowners needed their rat problem taken care of – Quickly!
It was on a Saturday morning when Termite Terry took the call. “D.J.” David Salamin, Terry’s pest control technician, was already booked up for that day. So, when the owners asked if they could get service that same day, Termite Terry initially said no. He said that they were too busy and asked if the homeowner could wait until Monday. But, the homeowner said that their house smelled so bad that they could not stand it any longer. The homeowner said that he had already called several other companies and no one else could help him. That’s when Terry decided to call D.J. and ask if they could squeeze the job in. D.J. said yes and an appointment was scheduled for around 12 noon.
The homeowner was waiting outside his front door when D.J. showed up. They went inside, took a look and determined that the dead rat was in the wall, under the kitchen sink. D.J. got his tools and removed a plumbing access panel, located under the sink. The stench was overwhelming and D.J. had to go back to his truck for a face mask. The rat had made a nest in the wall. The insulation was all chewed up and there were numerous snail shells that the rat had brought in to munch on. Once D.J. had removed all of the debris, he found the dead rat and was able to remove it. He reinstalled the panel, cleaned up the area and wiped everything down.
After doing an inspection of the adjacent exterior wall, D.J. found that the home’s exterior wood siding was loose at the bottom and that was how the rats were able to go in and out of the wall. He recommended that they call their contractor and have the wall’s siding repaired as soon as possible.
