The Super Bowl will be held on February 4th, so we thought it would be fun to share some facts about this special day:
- This year’s event will be held at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This will be the first Super Bowl to be held in Minnesota since 1992.
- In 2017, the Patriot’s 25 point comeback was the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. They beat the Falcons, 34-28.
- 2017 was the first time a Super Bowl ever went into overtime.
- In 1967, a 30-second commercial costs about $40,000 during the first Super Bowl. A 30-second commercial costs between $5 million and $5.5 million in 2017.
- The team with the lowest scoring winning score was the Dolphins, in 1973. They beat the Redskins, 14-7.
- The team with the highest winning score was the 49ers, in 1990. They beat the Broncos, 55-10. This was also the largest margin of victory to date.
- The Steelers have won the Super Bowl six times. The Cowboys, 49ers, and Patriots, have five wins each.
- Gale Gilbert, a backup QB, has the record for consecutive Super Bowl appearances. He made five straight with the Bills (1991-1994), and the Chargers (1995). His teams lost every game.
- In 1974, Bob Griese completed only six passes in the Dolphin’s win over the Vikings.
- Teams wearing white jerseys are 12-1 in the last 13 Super Bowls.
- Fans will eat about 1.33 billion chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday.
- The Super Bowl of 2015 was the most watched S. telecast of all time, with an average viewership of 114.4 million.
