Halloween is fun and all of us have many fond memories of celebrating the holiday as a kid. Halloween has also become a special holiday for adults and one could argue that the adults have even more fun than the kids do on this day.
Unfortunately, accidents do happen and that is why we would like to remind you of some Halloween safety tips:
- Make sure your kids wear age-appropriate costumes made of flame retardant materials.
- Adults or older siblings should accompany children when they are trick or treating.
- Children should walk in groups and have a set time to return home.
- Have your kids carry flashlights.
- Don’t allow children to enter homes.
- Tell your children not to get into cars with strangers and tell them not to even talk to strangers.
- All candy and treats need to be inspected by adults before allowing children to eat them.
- Throw out candy or treats which have been opened or tampered with.
- Don’t eat home-made treats unless you know the person who prepared them.
Additional Safety tips for adults:
- Drive cautiously and be on the lookout for children.
- Don’t drink and drive! If you’ve had too much to drink, do the right thing and call a cab.
- Keep your cats inside because during this time of year, vicious people tend to find Halloween an excuse to harm them. Black cats are especially at risk because some will offer them up as sacrifices.
Here’s to a memorable holiday –
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
