Entomologist Help Police To Solve A Cold Case

The police, in San Antonio Texas, arrested a murder suspect in a case that dates back to early 2005. The suspect was charged with killing an elderly man and his son in February 2005.

The suspect was initially charged with the killings in April 2005, however, charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.

Police investigators said that the suspect had been doing odd jobs for the victims.

The 86 year old victim was found stabbed to death in his home. The 54 year old son was found three days later, stuffed in the trunk of his car.

Investigators said both men were killed in the home. The suspect left a note on the door and moved the son’s body to delay the investigation so he would have more time to steal money from the victim’s bank account.

The police chief, William McManus, credited the Texas A&M University Entomology Department and the Bexar County crime lab with finding evidence to help close the case. Key evidence came from insects that were collected from one of the victim’s bodies, which provided a timeline for the crimes. They were also able to use cat hairs found to link the defendant to the crime scene.
